AIM – ICDK Water Challenge 6.0


As a part of the Indo-Danish Green Strategic Partnership, Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog (AIM) has collaborated with Innovation Centre Denmark (ICDK), the Royal Danish Embassy in India, and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) to prepare the Indian participation for the Next Generation Digital Action (NGDA) program hosted by DTU in Denmark. NGDA is a global youth initiative part of Digital Tech Summit 2026 to enable diverse youth-led ideas, perspectives and action on digital technologies transforming societies – leaving no one behind.

The AIM-ICDK Water Innovation Challenge has successfully completed four editions and has launched the fifth edition this year. The selected teams will form the Indian cohort which will participate in the global Next Generation Digital Action program and engage with young talents from leading universities and innovation hubs of 11 countries (India, Denmark, Ghana, Kenya, Korea, Tanzania, South Africa, Ghana, Colombia, USA and Mexico).

Student Track -

The student journey focuses on Digital Action for Societal Impact, brought forward by external partners through sustainability challenges with a specific focus on digitization. The track offers a hybrid 3-week course in June for students from Denmark and from partner universities around the world. Selected students will be facilitated to develop solutions to sustainability challenges by external partners that focus on digitalization and then invited to exhibit and pitch their ideas at the Digital Tech Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Who can apply?

  • 1. Applicants must be Indian citizens
  • 2. Age not more than 35 years
  • 3. Must be university students studying BA, MA or PHD at any university across India.
  • 4. Able to participate virtually in a 3-week online program from 4th - 25th June and physically in Copenhagen from 31th Oct – 7th Nov 2026
  • 5. Should be proficient in English
  • 6. Maximum of 3 People per team will travel to Denmark for the Program.

Entrepreneur Track -

The Young Entrepreneurs track presents an exciting opportunity for Indian technology start-ups in the early stages to accelerate their ideas and form global partnerships. Successful participants will get the opportunity to take part in a combination of workshops, networking opportunities and access to experts. The programme’s focus is on equipping start-ups with tools, insights and relevant networks to prepare for a successful congress participation so as to showcase their entrepreneurial prowess. This entails providing support in developing a strategy for the congress, networking with potential investors and building relationships with important players in industry.

Who can apply for the challenge?

  • Applicants must be Indian citizens
  • Age not more than 35 years
  • Able to participate virtually in a 3-week hybrid program from 4th - 25th June and physically in Copenhagen from 31th Oct – 7th Nov 2026
  • Should be proficient in English.
  • Maximum of 3 People per team will travel to Denmark for the Program.
