Barrix Agro Sciences Private Limited is a Bengaluru-based startup that was incorporated in the year 2011. Barrix, an innovative establishment, operates in the agricultural sector. The start-up has developed a pheromone-based eco-friendly crop protection technique using their latest dispersion technologies. With in-depth study and research on products to support organic farming, Barrix provides innovative and effective products to help farmers. Moreover, with a strong supply chain and dedicated personnel, Barrix empowers farmers and impacts the society and ecology in a positive way.
Barrix Innovation Centre is approved by DSIR, Government of India and is focused on developing pheromone-based products. The projects are funded and supported by DBT, BIRAC, and few other foundations. Barrix Agro Sciences is also funded by Omnivore Partners (VC) and CIIE - incubator.

Barrix has developed an eco-friendly pheromone trap that can attract weevils and traps. Barrix used a synthesis technology for Red Palm Weevil (RPW) pheromones comprising of, 4-methyl-5-nonanol and 4-methyl-5-nonanone (both upto 10 gms) and identified kairomones. These pheromones have been analysed using FT-IR, GC and other analytical method expressing LOD & LOQ levels. Stabilised and controlled release of pheromone by Angstrom void polymer (AVP)-based gel technology (using zeolites with angstrom void spaces has been found to show good potential for mass trapping of Red Palm Weevil (RPW). The trap is simple to use and it never comes in contact with the crop. This innovation allow the farmers to keep away from the use of any pesticides, thereby safeguarding their health. Further, the innovation reduces the laborious and tedious work, thereby saving time, money and also helps in increasing yield.
