Delhi Public School, Sector 45, Gurgaon organized a webinar on ‘Implementation of Artificial Intelligence in Robotics’, followed by an online Ideation Challenge as a part of the annual event TINKERFEST2020@DPS Gurgaon under the aegis of Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, on November 3rd, 2020. Twenty-three schools from the NCR region and Jaipur attended the same. The webinar was a novel way to engage students in the world of innovation and foster curiosity.
The webinar commenced with an address by Ms Aditi Misra, Director Principal, DPS Gurgaon, talking about the importance of advancement aptitudes. Mr Rifath Shaarook, the Chief Technology Officer, Space Kidz India, was the keynote speaker of the webinar. Mr Shaarook designed world’s lightest and first ever 3D printed cube satellite that was launched by NASA. The facilitator for the webinar was Mr Sandeep Kahnani, CEO and Founder Wingfotech Pvt. Ltd. and EdTech Entrepreneur. Mr Ashish Kumar, the Mentor of Change for Atal Innovation Mission NITI Aayog, also graced the occasion. The speakers engaged the students and teachers in an interactive session with their profound knowledge and experience.
The session enlightened the young minds with ingenious ways to nurture scientific temperament with luminaries of phenomenal insights. It was a refreshingly original and pioneering approach to training and motivation. The webinar helped to create an environment of collaboration and creativity amongst the students. The energy and enthusiasm could be seen in the online Ideation Challenge that followed. As part of this, participants proposed innovative solutions to the various societal problems. It was heartening to receive an overwhelming response from the young innovators in junior and senior categories
The basic premise of the webinar was to create an environment of collaboration and creativity amongst the students. The objective was to foster originality and imagination in young minds and inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, and physical computing. The session also motivated young minds give shape to their ideas through hands on ‘do-it-yourself’ mode.
